Counties Begin to Issue Marriage Licenses Day of Supreme Court Ruling

The Supreme Court voted in favor of same-sex marriage Friday, prompting county clerks throughout the country to start issuing their first marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples.
But as some couples rushed to get married following the historic ruling, some still can’t. County clerks in at least two states have been denying marriage requests after the state attorney generals for Louisiana and Mississippi each said the Supreme Court decision was not effective immediately.
